As another season in the Athletes in Christian Fellowship softball league winds down, 2011 championships have been clinched in all 3 leagues.  Vineyard’s A-Team once again proved to be the best in the A-League with just 2 losses this season with 1 regularly scheduled game left and a possible make-up game to be played with Trinity Bible.

Trinity Lutheran, after winning the Mid-Season Tournament, will attempt to keep their perfect league season intact when they host Faith Assembly next Tuesday evening.  Again, there is a possible make-up game with Faith Assembly that could be played the week of August 16, at the discretion of Faith Assembly.  Both of these make-up games occurred because of the willingness of Faith Assembly and Trinity Bible to switch leagues early in the season to keep the A and B Leagues balanced.

Finally, in just their second year back in the ACF, Glad Tidings Assembly captured the C-League championship with a 29 to 21 victory over Church of Christ in an interleague game Tuesday night.  Pastor Joe and Brad have done a great job of rebuilding this team after they had dropped out of the league and rejoined just last summer.  Next Tuesday will mark the end of the season, but watch this space for announcement of the league picnic and awards ceremony.

Also, if there is somebody you feel should be honored with admission to the ACF Hall of Fame, please eMail me, (rhino@acfsports.com) with a letter of recommendation and a brief biography of that person.  The Hall of Fame is a way that the league can remember those that have played and helped to build and sustain this important ministry for over 35 years now.  Thanks to all that have participated in 2011 and we look forward to an even better 2012.

Games missed last Tuesday (July 19) will be made up Tuesday night, August 9.  Also, there will be 4 make-up games to be played on the evening of Tuesday, August 16.  These are games that needed to be replayed due to Trinity Bible and Faith Assembly switching leagues in week 3.  If these games have no bearing on the final standings, it will be left to the coaches of the two teams to decide if they wish to replay the games or not.  Schedules updates will be available online after decisions are made by those coaches.

Family League has concluded.  Although there were some rough patches along the way, the end of the season seemed to go pretty smooth with parents and kids being able to participate together.  If there are ideas that could make this part of the ACF’s ministry stronger, please let me know.  Our goal is to continue to find ways to minister and spread the message of salvation through this league.  Thanks to all that participated.
