WOW!!! What a tournament!!! Walnut Ridge Baptist nearly survived the loss of their shortstop due to a very scary injury and fought back through the losers bracket to reach the championships. After defeating a surprising team from Burton Avenue Baptist 12-6, they ran out of gas in the "IF" game and a tight 7-7 game through 4 innings ending 23-8 Burton Avenue. Congratulations to these young men and to the 16 year old youth (Tyler Hare) that has continually invited the young men that played together Saturday, to participate in the ACF League and in Burton Avenue's youth activities.

After a long day of softball, the turn out at the worship celebration to culminate the day was sparsely attended. Plans for next years tournament have already begun with teams from McHenry, Illinois, expressing an interest in participating. Next year, the worship celebration will KICK-OFF the tournament. It was a long day of softball, but let's keep our eyes on the prize folks - it wasn't about softball - this was to be a ministry opportunity. The ACF League welcomes any other comments or suggestions that will make this a better tournament in coming seasons.

MIDWEST STATES TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS

First round games for the USSSA Midwest States Church Softball Tournament for Saturday, July 26th at Birdsall Park in Cedar Falls will be:

9:00 Diamond 1 Trinity Bible vs. Burton Avenue
9:00 Diamond 2 Walnut Ridge vs. Bethany Bible

10:00 Diamond 1 Orchard Hill 2 vs. Orchard Hill 1 (Wion)
10:00 Diamond 2 CF Knights vs. Walnut Ridge

11:00 Diamond 1 Trinity Bible vs. Orchard Hill 1 (Wion)
11:00 Diamond 2 Bethany Bible vs. Orchard Hill 2 (Allspach)
11:00 Diamond 3 Burton Avenue vs. CF Knights of Columbus

Teams will then be seeded 1-7 based on Wins, Runs Scored, Run Differential, Coin Toss

Double Elimination play will start at 12:30 with the Championship Game slated to start at 6:00pm. At the conclusion of play, there will be a Trophy Presentation and Worship Time to be held at Cedar Falls Church of Christ or a site to yet be determined. This time will be the culmination of the tournament and a TRUE TIME for WORSHIP and CELEBRATION. Special music is planned as well as an opportunity for players, fans and coaches to all celebrate our faith. Make sure to include this time as a part of your day.

Coaches, please be at the ballpark by 8:30 to get your team packets and get rosters filled out. Once a player has started the tournament with one team, he may not switch teams. Complete tournament rules will be included in the coaches packet on game day.
