Despite a later start than in past years, the 2012 ACF Sports softball season is underway. Numbers are down this year from past years with only 5 teams in each of the Men’s Leagues, but we are happy to welcome two new members to the ACF family. The Church of Jesus Christ debuted in the Men’s B-League while Crossroads Church of the Nazarene played their first Family League game this week. Please take time to get to know the leaders and players from each of these teams during the year.
Also, after a couple years with no concessions, we have 2 groups working to raise money this year. The family of Bruce Forbes will have hot dogs and soda to attempt to raise funds for a service dog for their grandson with diabetes. These animals are trained to detect the slightest changes in blood sugar in the individual and truly can save lives. To find more information, please follow the link below to Adam’s facebook page.
Also, Faith Assembly will have popcorn and candy (and what kid doesn’t need a little candy – no matter the age!!) in an effort to raise funds for their building project. Please take time to stop by and talk with both groups and support their efforts. For those of you running too late to grab some supper before getting to the ballpark, this is an excellent help to get yourselves or the kids something to tide them over.
Finally, our Early Bird tournament is scheduled for this Saturday, May 19th. It will again be an Ump your own, Round-Robin tournament. It should be a great opportunity to get 3 to 5 games in and give your team a chance to play together as well as some great time for fellowship. If you have not yet filled out your registration, you can follow the link below to download a PDF copy. Be sure to get it back to Brad or Rhino this week. Provided we have enough teams, game times will be posted by 9:30pm Thursday night.
